I've encountered some complete a$#hol*s who refuse point blank to ship anywhere beyond 'the lower 48'.
Thankfully those charmers lose out now as I can buy from GPA!
Magnarc, Don't feel bad I can't get things packed and shipped a 4-500 hundred miles.
Re: Altec LF Enclosure Plans on Pdf.
That's why I went to L.A. to pick up my 803B horns. Stopped by the seller's house and popped them in the back of the truck. =) He was willing to ship, but the cost was high.
I feel your pain about getting stuff shipped to Oz. Even living in Hawaii - a US state - it was hard to get eBay sellers to ship. Many just would not do it. Now that I am on the east coast of North America, shipping seems unbelievably fast and cheap. I love it!

I hate it too, so switched to Flickr. I used up all my allotted BW for uploading from my computer to this forum in the first few posts I did it, so is there a way around it that I missed?

So, if I wanted to build a bass reflex (vented) box for my 416 It would need to be 10 cubic feet. Am I reading you right?

Hi Marv, I think GM was saying that it could be 7.5 to 10 cu ft. for it to be optimum you really have to tune the box to your room. That's what I think he meant. ;)
Generally bigger the box the better the LF will be.
Re: Altec LF Enclosure Plans on Pdf.
There is a discussion of box size and such for the 416 here:http://www.hostboard.com/forums/alte...omponents.html
BTW, thanks for posting the scans and offering the others, good form!
Re: Altec LF Enclosure Plans on Pdf.
Dang,
I hope I haven't offended anyone here. I tend to do that on occasion. I am so ignorant on audio I ask questions that seem offensive.
Anyway, I really appreciate all the really knowledgeable comments that set me straight. There are so many variables when it comes to selecting the right speakers I get confused. Also, it seems everyone has their own opinion as to what is correct for a given situation. I'm not in a position to say they are right or wrong, but it can get a bit confusing for someone like me.
I hate it when good people on our forum get too personal with comments. It really does not help in solving our problems. I know this forum is open to all comments, but I know everyone will concede we seem to drift off in other directions at times. Thats OK and even fun and enlightening at times. Just as long as it doesn't get out of hand.
Anyway, I have puked out my guts enough here, so lets get back to the topic. I still need to build that project I have been dreaming about.
Dang, I need a drink...
